STUFF OF WAR
MAXIMILIAN'S ARMOURY IN INNSBRUCK

For the 5th centenary of the death of Emperor Maximilian I, the Zeughaus itself will be a focal point of the museum's activities. The arsenal, which was built by Maximilian at a safe distance from the town and his residence at the beginning of the 16th century, housed the “Zeug” (literally “stuff” meaning military equipment) for the Emperor's army and his famous cannons and was also a major armaments production facility. The exhibition will focus on the history of the building and its surroundings, which will be explored in detail in the context of the Maximilian Year and will offer special insights.
