CARE AND COMPASSION IN TIMES OF WAR
THE ARMY MEDICAL CORPS UP TO 1918

This special exhibition of the Infantry Veterans’ Club and the Bergisel Foundation shows how the wounded were cared for from the beginning of the 19th century to the end of the First World War. Modern warfare resulted in new types of injury, illness and millions of wounded, including countless permanent invalids who, having lost limbs, had to face the rest of their lives with and without prostheses. The exhibition provides an insight into field surgery, medical technology, the army medical corps and medication.
