Today the bike – quick, easy and ecological - is for more and more people their preferred means of travelling short distances. It serves, however, not only as a means of transport but is also an item of leisure and sports equipment. The bike has its German origins in the so-called draisine, which also became the first individual means of transport for everyone in the Tyrol and was the precursor of the motorbike and motorcar. The exhibition, held in conjunction with the World Cycling Championships in Tyrol, deals with technological, cultural and historical aspects as well as transport and social policy issues regarding cycling in the present day.
