THE IMPERIAL HUNTERS INVITE YOU TO THE TABLE
Drinking glasses, silver cutlery and porcelain, neatly laid out on a long table: who would be dining here alongside the hosts and landlords, the Tyrolean imperial hunters? What was there to eat, what to drink? How did they celebrate?
The exhibition "Table Culture of the Kaiserjäger" is dedicated to the festivities and celebrations at Bergisel.
Both smaller gatherings and grandiose celebrations, such as the emperor's birthday, were rarely complete without an extensive dinner. Even back then, the more important the occasion, the more elegant the menu. Today, crockery and cutlery as well as historical photos and documents give an idea of the gatherings of the imperial hunters, which are representative of the celebratory culture of the bourgeoisie around 1900. Similar to the previous exhibition on the Biedermeier period, the thematic focus of the exhibition once again shifts from the military background of the Kaiserjäger to social life on the Bergisel.
