City Nature Challenge
Innsbruck 2025Bioblitz: City Nature Challenge
As part of the City Nature Challenge 2025, as many wild animal and plant species as possible are to be documented in the Innsbruck-Stadt and Innsbruck-Land areas. Over 500 cities worldwide are taking part in this project, which aims to identify and document the diversity of flora and fauna species and ultimately raise awareness of nature and environmental protection. The campaign runs from 25 to 28 April and is aimed at anyone interested in nature. Equipped with a smartphone or GPS-enabled camera, anyone can become part of the challenge on their own.
Events organised by the Tyrolean Provincial Museums
Hundreds of cities around the world are taking part in this campaign with excursions, workshops and data collection campaigns – including Innsbruck. Natural scientists from the Tyrolean State Museums have organised two excursions in which interested parties can take part free of charge:
A joint documentation walk with botanists Christian Anich and Michael Thalinger in the Mühlauer Fuchsloch and Mühlauer Klamm area on Friday, 25 April 2025 in the afternoon.
And on Monday, 28 April 2025, the zoologists Benjamin and Petra Schattanek-Wiesmair will take you through the Telfer meadows in the Stubai Valley.
All you need is a fully charged mobile phone. Simply download the iNaturalist app, take a photo and upload it!
