Hardly any other era emphasised the power of storytelling as much as the Baroque. Pictures, productions, theatre, illusions, but also heroic stories – these are just some of the forms of storytelling that were very much in the interest of the state and the church. They were juxtaposed with a population that rarely knew how to read and write.
