Hits and rarities from Franz Schubert’s oeuvre

Franz Schubert’s more than 600 songs are an almost inexhaustible musical treasure trove. There are many treasures to be unearthed, especially among the lesser-known compositions. An exquisite Tyrolean trio of artists is dedicated to this task: soprano Maria Erlacher, tenor Martin Lechleitner and pianist Annette Seiler. The concert will feature some of the great “hits” as well as absolute rarities. The concert programme reflects the preferences of the three artists involved – and Franz Gratl, as artistic director of the musikmuseum concert series, also contributes some “secret loves” from his intimate relationship with Franz Schubert’s song oeuvre to the programme. This project utilises a magnificent original instrument from Schubert’s time, the precious fortepiano by Johann Georg Gröber from the Ferdinandeum’s music collection. Since a thorough restoration by fortepiano maker Robert Brown in 2017 and a recent restringing, this piano now shines in new splendour. The conditions are therefore ideal for a Schubert voyage of discovery and a simultaneous exploration of exquisite early Romantic soundscapes.

Maria Erlacher (soprano)

Annette Seiler (fortepiano Johann Georg Gröber, Innsbruck around 1825)
