The “History Talk” series at the Cultural Mediations of the Tyrolean State Museums links historical biographies and topics from the main exhibition at Museum in the Armoury with contemporary issues. The upcoming event will focus on the story of Agnes Larcher, a teacher who made social taboos the subject of her lessons in Tyrol in the 1970s. Her example shows how school can become a place of critical thinking and at the same time what resistance she encountered at the time and what support she lacked.
The discussion takes Larcher’s path as a starting point, but deliberately focuses on the present. How do teachers manage to teach courageously today? What challenges do teachers face when integrating topics such as gender equality into their lessons? What role does teacher training play and what support can teachers expect?
The “Dr Agnes Larcher Prize 2025” award-winning project “YOUR name should be written here!” will also be shown and presented.
Admission from 17:30.
