Change of perspective: On appearance and reality - originals and forgeries among the small-format metal reliefs of the Renaissance and Baroque periodsThe small-format metal reliefs in the Older Art History Collection have been the subject of research since 2019. The question always arises as to whether an object is really a historical piece from the Renaissance or Baroque period or whether it could be a copy from the 19th century after all.
Clues are sometimes provided by the motif depicted, but often also by the material or the method of manufacture. Delia Scheffer talks to Marlene Sprenger-Kranz about dubious objects and the results of research to date.
