The event offers input and basic information on gender diversity (trans*/inter*/non-binary) with a focus on intersexuality and how to deal with gender diversity in the world of work.
The existence of more than two genders is a socially recognised reality that has now also been reflected in case law. A judgement by the Constitutional Court in 2018 (G77/2018-9) stated that intersex people have a right to a designation in the civil status register that corresponds to their gender identity. The Constitutional Court stated that the term “gender” does not only include “male” and “female”, but also other gender identities. Nevertheless, inter*, trans* and non-binary people still often face barriers and discrimination in everyday life. We can all contribute to opening up the binary systems that still prevail (and may have to, at the latest since the landmark decision by the Constitutional Court). Companies have a key role to play here – as employers and service providers, they shape the reality of life for all of us and can therefore make a valuable contribution to a gender-inclusive society.
The workshop aims in particular to provide a solid foundation of knowledge on gender diversity, to raise awareness of areas that are sensitive to discrimination in this regard and to communicate approaches to gender diversity in companies using a company guideline for working with inter*, trans* and non-binary employees and customers. The workshop consisted of professional input and interactive elements.
This workshop is for employers, colleagues, managers, equal opportunities officers and others interested in the topic.
