"In the footsteps of Heinz Gappmayr - typographic city walk" with Gaby Gappmayr and Markus WeithasHeinz Gappmayr, one of the most important and internationally recognised representatives of Austrian visual poetry, would have turned 100 this year. To mark this anniversary, the Tyrolean State Museums are dedicating an exhibition in public space to him. Works by him will be presented at ten different locations throughout the provincial capital.
The guided tour with Gaby Gappmayr, the artist’s daughter and executor of his estate, and graphic artist Markus Weithas takes the form of a city walk to selected stations in the exhibition. She provides insights into Gappmayr’s world of ideas and artistic thinking and the significance of writing as a means of artistic expression. Gappmayr’s works are not about unambiguity, but about spaces of possibility. About a different way of seeing and a new way of thinking about language.
