No other musical genre permeates society as much as brass band music does in Tyrol. Tyrol even has more brass bands than municipalities.
Elmar Juen, Chairman of the Tyrolean Brass Band Association, and Katharina Walter, Head of Cultural Education at the Tyrolean State Museums, will guide you through the exhibition. You will find out when and why brass music became so important and why it has an identity-forming effect on many people. They will also take a critical look at the military roots of brass band music and its close relationship with politics and its appropriation by totalitarian systems.
