Where are the women in Tyrol Panorama and Kaiserjäger Museum on the Bergisel? So far, they have barely made an appearance. In the special exhibition “Hosenrolle? Women in portraits from 1809 – 1918“, we are putting them in the spotlight. Selected biographies are used to visualise their role.
To what extent can we reconstruct the actions and perspectives of these women? Did they see themselves as transgressors of traditional gender roles – or were their actions rather an expression of personal circumstances? And where do memories blur the boundaries between myth and historical evidence?
