No other musical genre permeates society as much as brass band music. Tyrol has more brass bands than municipalities. In the guided tour with Dr Franz Gratl, curator of the current exhibition “Spielweisen. What brass music can be” in the Tirol Panorama and head of the music collection of the Tiroler Landesmuseen, you will learn when and why brass music acquired this special significance and why it has such a fascinating and identity-forming effect on many people.
On the other hand, a (self-)critical look is taken at its military roots and its close relationship to politics and totalitarian systems. The tour also tells the story of how this project came about, in which many players from the scene were involved and which was created to mark the anniversary of “100 Years of Brass Music”.
