Where are the women in Tyrol Panorama and Kaiserjäger Museum on the Bergisel? So far, they have barely made an appearance. In the special exhibition “Hosenrolle? Women in portraits from 1809 – 1918“, we are putting them in the spotlight – as militant women of the anti-Napoleonic era and as helping and fighting women in the First World War.
Curator Sonia Buchroithner uses selected biographies to provide insights into the role of women during these armed conflicts. What stories do the objects tell us and where do the boundaries between myth and historical evidence become blurred in our memories?
