Almost exactly 100 years ago, on 1 October 2024, Radio-Verkehrs AG RAVAG was the first Austrian radio company to start broadcasting. A lot has happened since then in terms of radio and audio media. Home-made devices and expensive furniture radios were replaced by compact devices for the home, and later portable portable radios and handy Walkmans as well as all kinds of curiosities appeared. Inventions such as the tape recorder and the loudspeaker also influenced the way we listen.
The exhibition at the Museum im Zeughaus on the 100th anniversary of radio and broadcasting follows the invisible waves into the past, along cultural-historical phenomena and technical milestones.
