Memories of Memories

The Oradour camp

What remains of the story? Who remembers what? And how? How can, should, do we want to deal with the gaps in history?

The "Memories of Memories" project reflects on the power of memories, both collective and individual. The focus is on the Oradour camp in Schwaz and its history from National Socialism and war to the present day. What has remained of it? Because a history of memory is always also a history of forgetting and so "Memories of Memories" also searches for what seems lost and scrutinises the attempt to make the forgotten or repressed visible again.

"Memories of Memories" is a cooperation project between the Tyrolean State Museums and numerous cultural institutions in Schwaz(Klangspuren, Rabalderhaus, Museum der Völker, Kunstraum Schwaz, Toni-Knapp-Haus, Schwaz City Archive) as well as the Institute of Design, i.sd - Construction and Design at the University of Innsbruck, the Tyrolean State Theatre and the Klocker Museum Hall. Together we have developed a varied programme with exhibitions and concerts, readings and talks, guided tours and performances.

We look forward to welcoming you to our events.
