“Mountain call and world echo”

The multimedia pop-up intervention as part of the "Goldene Schindel 2025" music video festival is dedicated to the fascinating phenomenon of yodelling. It can be seen in the Stubenforum of the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum.

Yodelling is often associated with Tyrol and the Alpine region - although the characteristic register change singing can also be found in numerous other regions and cultures. "Gebirgsruf und Weltecho" provides insights into the history and cultural significance of yodelling. Global parallels are highlighted and forms of this song beyond traditional or folk contexts are presented.

In addition to the Golden Shingle, music videos by the Frankfurt trio "Der Jodlklub", the south-east European trio "Gordan" from the Dinaric Alps and excerpts from the rainforest film project by the "Aka Pygmies" and the "Geschwister Buchberger" can be seen.

A postcard station invites visitors to send personalised yodelling greetings, and five yodelling songs from the Tyrolean Folk Song Archive can be heard at the audio station.
